Information-seeking behaviour in digital environments has transformed significantly with India's digital revolution, particularly in progressive states like Haryana. This study examines the digital information-seeking patterns, preferences, and challenges faced by Haryana's population in accessing and utilizing digital information resources. The research employed a mixed-method approach, utilizing quantitative analysis of secondary data from government sources, digital literacy surveys, and internet penetration statistics specific to Haryana state. The hypothesis postulated that Haryana's strong digital infrastructure and high literacy rates would correlate with sophisticated information-seeking behaviours and widespread adoption of digital platforms for information access. Results revealed that Haryana demonstrates above-average digital engagement with 84.8% projected literacy rate by 2025, significant internet penetration especially in urban areas like Gurgaon and Faridabad, and diversified information-seeking patterns spanning educational, commercial, and social domains. The study found distinct urban-rural variations in digital information access, with urban centers showing higher adoption of advanced digital services while rural areas increasingly embrace mobile-first information seeking. Discussion highlights the role of government initiatives like SARAL and e-governance platforms in shaping information-seeking behaviours, alongside challenges including digital divide, language preferences, and infrastructure gaps. The findings conclude that Haryana's digital landscape exhibits sophisticated information-seeking behaviours driven by economic development, educational advancement, and progressive policy implementation, positioning it as a model for digital transformation in Indian states. |
