Additive Manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D Printing, is an advanced manufacturing technology that produces components by adding material layer by layer based on a digital model. This technology has revolutionized modern manufacturing by enabling rapid prototyping, customization, and production of complex geometries that are difficult to achieve using conventional manufacturing methods. The present study focuses on the working principle, types, materials, advantages, limitations, and applications of additive manufacturing. The study also analyzes the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, mechanical properties, and material utilization of 3D printed components. The results show that additive manufacturing provides significant benefits such as reduced material waste, design flexibility, and faster product development. However, challenges such as limited material availability, surface finish quality, and production speed still exist. Overall, additive manufacturing has strong potential for future industrial applications in aerospace, automotive, medical, and engineering fields. |
