EVALUATING THE EFFECT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES ON ORGANIZATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY

Area: Department of Management
Abstract: Digital transformation has emerged as a strategic imperative for organizations seeking sustained competitive advantage in the contemporary business landscape. This paper evaluates the effect of digital transformation initiatives including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data analytics, and robotic process automation on organizational productivity across multiple industry sectors. The primary objectives are to assess the extent to which digital transformation enhances operational efficiency and employee productivity, and to identify the critical factors that moderate this relationship. A descriptive-analytical research design was adopted, utilizing secondary data from industry reports published by McKinsey, IDC, Deloitte, Gartner, and Forrester between 2020 and 2024. Data were analyzed through comparative statistical interpretation of survey-based findings across global enterprises. The study hypothesizes that organizations implementing comprehensive digital transformation strategies experience significantly higher productivity gains than those with fragmented or absent digital initiatives. Results indicate that digitally advanced organizations achieve productivity improvements ranging from 20% to 55%, while companies with effective change management programs realize up to 143% of expected ROI. However, only 30% of digital transformations succeed due to leadership gaps and employee resistance. The study concludes that digital transformation positively impacts organizational productivity, but success is contingent upon strategic leadership, workforce upskilling, and robust change management frameworks.
